“The Amber Archive seeks to make visible the scale of the extinction crisis,” explains Jenny Kendler. For this ever-growing archive, the artist ethically sources samples of species threatened by human actions and preserves them in handmade amber resin. Each piece of amber glows dramatically, like a beacon, signaling the importance of what it contains within. The artist continues: “Fur, scale, leaf, feather, wing, shell: each carries unique DNA—the genetic code needed to potentially resurrect an entire species. Amber Archive is thus both a biodiversity time capsule and a potent reminder to today’s society of what we stand to lose.”
