Lilac, Moonbeam, and Heavenly Blue: Curated by Dove Drury Hornbuckle

January 14 - February 25, 2023

My intention was to create an exhibition where the work is hung salon-style, where aesthetics, materials, themes, and concepts can be collectively shared. I’m thinking of it like a great party - all the girls are there, your glass is full, and the vibe is right. --Dove Drury Hornbuckle

In the East Wing, Goldfinch is pleased to present “Lilac, Moonbeam, and Heavenly Blue,” a group show organized by Dove Drury Hornbuckle, featuring works by Claire Arctander, Devin Balara, Chase Barney, Patrick Carroll, Wells Chandler, Michael Cuadrado, Bobby Gonzales, Gurtie Hansell, Christalena Hughmanick, Arnold J. Kemp, James Kerley, Anwar Madhi, William J. O’Brien, Aay Preston-Myint, John Rossi, Christina Sweeney, Martyn Thompson, Caleb Yono, and Anders Zanichkowsky.

“My desire for this exhibition was to curate a group of artists whose work acknowledges a queer subjectivity in formal and conceptual processes within their practice. I wished to create an exhibition that focused on queerness as a resilient showcase of spirit - where the work reverberates and creates new potentialities because it has been intentionally and intimately placed side by side.

My intention was to create an exhibition where the work is hung salon-style, where aesthetics, materials, themes, and concepts can be collectively shared. I’m thinking of it like a great party - all the girls are there, your glass is full, and the vibe is right.

I am thinking of our continual queer mourning - the propaganda of ‘groomer’ language, the Club Q massacre, fascists showing up to libraries where drag artists read to children, and the ongoing federal restrictions against trans youth, etc. So for me, it feels timely to create a group show where queer artists can collectively present themselves within an intimate space.”—Dove Drury Hornbuckle
